This spring, the Brain Injury Association of California (BIACAL) will be hosting the first annual “Over the Edge for Brain Injury” event, which is set to take place on March 18, 2016 at the Residence Inn by Marriott at Capitol Park. During this one-of-a-kind event, a limited number of participants will rappel down the side of a 16-story building to raise awareness of brain injury. To secure a slot as a participant, individuals are required to fundraise at least $1,500. There are only 76 spots available, so now is the time to register online and begin raising donations!

Your spot will be confirmed after you have raised the minimum amount of $1,500, but participants are encouraged to keep up the fundraising efforts to earn further incentives, including:

  • $2,000- a commemorative photo
  • $3,000- the opportunity to document your journey down the building with a Go Pro camera helmet
  • $5,000- entry into a drawing for a trip for two (location TBA)

This is an all-inclusive event, and persons with disabilities are encouraged to participate. (Participants with disabilities are asked to email Paula Daoutis at to explain the nature of the disability at least 35 days in advance of the event. This will help the event organizers ensure that all necessary equipment can be provided.)

All participants are invited to the Pre-Rappel evening reception at the Residence Inn on Thursday, March 17,, 2016. The reception will include hors d'oeuvres and a no-host bar. Rappellers will have the opportunity to meet with the OTE technical staff, BIACAL board members and staff, and sponsors of the event.
