A Night at the Opera

Brain Artwork Held in Palm of Hand in Front of Sunset

While attending one of the California Brain Injury Association's Caregiver Conferences in San Jose in August of 2007, Member Rachel Michelberg decided that she wanted to make a contribution to CALBIA by organizing a musical fundraising event.

Rachel, a Mezzo-Soprano, contacted Dr. Mark Ashley to offered to organize A Night At The Opera on March 16, 2008, with all proceeds benefiting CALBIA.

True to her word, Rachel assembled Soprano Iris Fraser, Tenor Stephen Guggenheim, Baritone Michael Taylor, and Pianist Bruce Olstad, all of which donated their time and talent to make the event a night to remember. Rachel also solicited help from a good friend, Evann Aronoff, who along with her daughter, Sarah Koester, prepared and donated the most amazing refreshments that attendees enjoyed following the performance.

CALBIA Board Members, Dr. Mark Ashley, Dennis Hays, and Ann Perkins were in attendance at the event, which was held at the Addison-Penzak Jewish Community Center Silicon Valley Auditorium in Los Gatos on March 16, 2008 and raised $6,000 for CALBIA.
