BIAA Urges Senators to Swiftly Pass the ADA Amendments Act

As the anniversary of the Americans With Disabilities Act approaches tomorrow, July 26, 2008, BIAA continues to advocate, as part of a broad coalition of groups, urging Congress to pass the ADA Amendments Act (H.R. 3195) this year, and has just signed on to a coalition letter urging Senators to swiftly pass the bill.This short letter references the recent House passage of the bill by a vote of 402 to 17, and urges Senators to ensure Senate passage of the bill this year. The letter states, "The ADA Amendments Act maintains the individual functionality that entities covered under the law, including employers and public accommodations, deem so necessary for the effective administration of this law, while still providing important protection for individuals with disabilities."
