Researchers Find Promise in Stem Cell Implants Treatment for Traumatic Brain Injuries

When an issue such as traumatic brain injuries continues to be an enormous public health problem, many different entities place an emphasis if not a priority on researching ways to treat these injuries.  Now comes word that researchers in Texas have achieved promising results when using stem cell therapy in an effort to repair the physical damage that’s done to a brain when it is harmed in this manner.

Specifically, researchers at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston have been working with stem cells by way of implanting them in the brains of rats that had suffered traumatic brain injuries.  They also have a mechanism in place that can relate to how this treatment would work in the human brain.  Using stem cells showed that brains that were treated in this manner showed a positive response by way of rebuilding certain damaged structures at a cellular level.
