NFL, NCAA Send Letter to States Pleading for the Passage of Concussion Laws

Whenever public figures take steps to improve the conditions that are related to certain issues, these steps are often met with a mixture of appreciation and cynicism from the public at large.  Many times, this mixed reaction is due to the variance in opinions with regards to a particular issue.  Since almost no one has a problem with protecting young people from concussions and traumatic brain injuries , most are applauding a step taken by two very public figures with regards to passing laws that would deal with this issue.

Specifically, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and NCAA President Mark Emmert have sent letters to the 19 states in the country that at this point do not have a law in place that deals with protocols for young people and concussions or traumatic brain injuries.  31 states and the District of Columbia already have at least one law in existence that requires any child who exhibits signs of a brain injury to be pulled from competition and not allowed to return until he or she is cleared by a doctor.  The NFL and NCAA want that standard to exist across the United States.
