Caltrain is a public transportation system that serves the Bay Area every day.  Countless people use this system in order to avoid the hassle, delays and expense involved with driving a private vehicle in and around this area.  Unfortunately, even though this transportation system is touted for safety and convenience, accidents have, can and will continue to happen.  Tragically, another person lost a life yesterday when he was hit by a Caltrain vehicle.

Nursing homes are becoming more and more crowded as the population of the United States continues to age collectively, and an unfortunate result of this reality is that the standard of care that was once taken for granted in these facilities is beginning to slip.  Tragically, that reality was reinforced recently when a San Jose nursing home death led to an $80,000 fine and the most severe penalty allowed under state law.

Hit-and-run accidents are serious crimes, and a Pittsburg man was arrested for this alleged action last night after he was involved in a San Francisco auto accident that wound up hitting a pedestrian.  The driver of the vehicle was identified and apprehended by police after witnesses described the vehicle in question and police found him driving in the same vehicle on the freeway less than an hour later.  The charge is being classified as a felony.

When someone gets behind the wheel of a vehicle, he or she owes a legal duty to anyone and everyone around the vehicle that's being driven.  This means that the driver is bound by law to others to not place them in situations of unreasonable danger of harm.  Not only is a driver supposed to avoid actions that place others in situations of risk, but he or she also owes a duty of care to any passengers in his or her vehicle.  A trial that's about to begin as a result of a fatal Los Gatos auto accident drives that point home.

Not every auto accident that occurs involves two vehicles and two drivers.  Almost any San Francisco auto accident can present a complicated scenario of facts that can be difficult to analyze, particularly when these crashes set off a chain reaction that only multiplies the amount of damage done and injuries suffered.  Such an accident occurred yesterday in San Francisco when a man ran a red light at the intersection of 19th Avenue and Taraval Street.  The crash led to additional collisions and ultimately eight people were sent to the hospital with injuries.

Fatal auto accidents occur with alarming regularity in California, and no one is immune from the risks inherent in navigating through public roads.  On Friday, April 16th just before midnight, two men were killed in a Pittsburg auto accident that was ruled a hit-and-run by police.  The accident occurred at Buchanan Road and Brookside Drive, and an arrest was made after the suspect turned himself in to police the following day.

San Francisco is a city that's always bustling with traffic, and that includes those in private vehicles, those in public transports, bicyclists and pedestrians.  People have different ideas and plans for getting around the city, and every one of them involves risks and dangers.  Tragically, one man paid the ultimate price as a result of a San Francisco pedestrian accident this morning when he was crushed between Muni buses. 

 

Auto accidents occur at a breathtaking rate, and when they do there are often serious consequences for those involved.  Tragically, one man lost his life as a result of an Oakland auto accident that occurred on Sunday in the 7200 block of Hamilton Street, and police are beginning to investigate the cause of the crash which remains unknown at this time.  Authorities have stated that they are not ruling out any factors, including the possibility of drugs and/or alcohol playing a role in the situation. 

 

Auto accidents occur at an alarming rate, and when they occur the majority of them lead to at least one injury.  This is especially true of head-on crashes, which tend to be the most violent and involve the highest amount of speed for both vehicles.  No one expects another vehicle to suddenly veer into its lane coming from the opposite direction, and this lack of anticipation can contribute to the damage that's ultimately done.

When someone drinks and then drives, that person not only increases the risks involved for everyone else who may be in the area at any given time, but that person also faces more risks than necessary if an accident occurs.  This is particularly true when someone who is allegedly intoxicated gets into an accident that kills someone.  Tragically, that could prove to be the case with a Northern California auto accident that occurred last week in which the driver at fault has been charged with murder.
