BIAA Attends Round Table Hosted by Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute
This past week the Brain Injury Association of America (BIAA) attended a round table with Jean Slutsky, who serves as both Chief Engagement and Dissemination Officer and Program Director of the Communication and Dissemination Research Program at Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). An independent research institute authorized by Congress in 2010 and governed by a Board of Governors representing the entire healthcare community, PCORI’s mission is to seek answers to questions about what healthcare approaches are most valuable and effective for patients based on their concerns and circumstances.
PCORI continually seeks input from the public to help guide and shape the work they do, and there are a number of ways that members of the public can get involved. PCORI asks for “meaningful engagement” from the public in some of the following ways:
- Reviewing funding applications
- Joining an advisory panel
- Suggesting a patient-centered research question
- Participating in PCORI events
- Becoming a PCORI ambassador
- Providing input
We at Scarlett Law Group are proud of the work that both the BIAA and PCORI do to help improve the patient experience. As advocates for those who have suffered brain injuries, we believe that PCORI’s work is another way that justice can be obtained for those who need it most.
