A study published in the
Journal of Neurotrauma found that “Civilian Emergency Department Populations” who
present with mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) are more likely to present
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) symptoms after six months post-injury.
Essentially, this study was one of the first to focus on civilians with
mTBI and possibly PTSD. A majority of studies on mTBI are primarily focusing
on veterans or military members fresh out of the combat zone.
