The Brain Injury Association of California (BIACAL) has announced the 2016
dates for the 9th annual Walk for Brain Injury. Now is the time to begin building your teams
to support this fantastic organization!
The walk will be held in five California locations this year:
- Sacramento (March 20)
- Bakersfield (May 21)
- San Francisco (July 16)
- Los Angeles (September 10)
- Fresno (October 2)
BIACAL encourages each participant to raise a minimum goal of at least
$100 in fundraising towards the total statewide goal of $150,000. All
participants will receive a T-shirt commemorating the event. Participants
may walk individually or as a team in honor of or in memory of a loved
one with a brain injury.
Your participation and contributions to this event will help BIACAL to
achieve its 2015/2016 goals, including:
- Promoting brain injury awareness through its annual Walk for Brain Injury
events, encouraging prevention through concussion training, and providing
all-sport helmets and informational fact sheets to children across the state.
- Initiating Support Groups in areas across the state where there are none,
and providing training to volunteer facilitators.
- Offer education through annual conferences, initiating Academy of Brain
Injury Specialist (ACBIS) Training for professionals serving individuals
with brain injury, and offering monthly educational webinars.
As the leading cause of disability and death in the United States, brain
injury is still the most misdiagnosed, misunderstood, and underfunded
type of injury. BIACAL’s mission is to spread awareness of brain
injury, provide resources and support, provide funding towards brain injury
research, and improve the quality of life for all Californians affected
by brain injury and the people who care for them.
