Actor, Comedian & Author, Larry Miller, will be a guest on the “Real Time With Bill Maher” show tonight on HBO. (Please check your HBO guide for times as the show will be repeated several times throughout the week). Larry is expected to talk about his recovery from a serious brain injury and touch on the issues pertaining to our bill, SB 320.
Larry is known for his appearances on many movies and TV shows, including: Curb Your Enthusiasm; Seinfeld; The Nutty Professor; and several Gary Marshall directed movies such as Pretty Woman, Princess Diaries, Runaway Bride, Valentine’s Day, and New Year’s Eve. In addition, Larry has appeared numerous times on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Show with David Letterman, and Real Time With Bill Maher.
Larry’s injury was a result from a fall following the completion of a podcast with comedian Adam Carolla in April of 2012. Larry lost his footing and hit the back of his head on a sidewalk. Larry was hospitalized at UCLA Medical Center where he remained in a coma and on life support for a period of one month. Following his hospital discharge, Larry began his post-acute rehabilitation at a specialized brain injury rehabilitation facility in California where he learned to re-master basic cognitive functions. Larry has made great strides throughout his structured rehabilitation program and has returned to his weekly podcast while continuing to focus on his rehabilitation program.
On May 1, 2013, Larry testified before the Senate Health Committee for SB 320 on behalf of the Brain Injury Association of California. Larry’s testimony was very compelling and significant in the passing of the bill through that committee by a vote of 5-2. SB 320 has since been held over in the Senate Appropriations Committee until January 2014. Larry intends to address the issues surrounding SB 320 on his TV appearance tonight.
