Appropriations Update

Appropriations Update

Posted By Scarlett Law Group || 13-Dec-2010

This week the Senate remained deadlocked on possible appropriations solutions for Fiscal Year (FY) 2011. While many Republicans are in favor of another short-term continuing resolution, Democrats have two options on the table.

The first would cover government programs for the rest of the FY11, as passed by the House, largely at FY10 levels, with some extra funding for the Health and Human Services Department. The second option, assembled by Chairman Inouye, is a larger FY11 omnibus package which would cap discretionary spending at $1.108 trillion. Compared with the House-passed measure, Inouye's proposal includes about $18 million more in new spending.

BIAA is monitoring the situation closely and will alert grassroots advocates if any action is needed.
